Thoreau wrote, "We do not ride on the railroad; it rides upon us."  So even when John did a total put-on, getting back at the teachers who taught him and who weren't cool, but who nonetheless wanted to dissect his lyrics, it resulted in, well, everyone wanting to dissect this song, which probably made him feel put upon.  While not every song in the TV-movie is shot well, I must admit that I prefer the onscreen version of this song, which would likely get a B+ as a stand-alone video.  Anyway, John is the walrus, until he tells us the walrus was Paul.
