Well, it doesn't get more Summer of Love than this. I mean it's on the tin! Cynics (then and now) would say that love is not in fact all you need, but how seriously were the Beatles taking this anyway, with "Greensleeves," "She Loves You," etc.? I mean, on some level they were right (love in its largest sense), but, as the Captain & Tennille would eventually learn, love would not keep us together, and that included the Beatles.
This album, with the help of these earlier-1967 singles ranges from C+ to B+ ("The Fool on the Hill" would probably be a B-) and averages out to the B- side of the B-/B fence. So does that make it the best Beatles album I own, so far? Hm.
