I don't actually hear Clapton sing on this, but maybe he just played guitar.  This album ranges from C to B, with most of those as C+, so it's not surprising that it averages to C+.  But this may be a "It's not you, it's me" situation, since this isn't really my genre and I can certainly hear the skill involved.
