An appropriately techno protest against the international weapons industry, with a heap of Pretenders (especially the harmonica), a pinch of the Thompson Twins (in the "exotic" sounds), and Beatlesque whimsy to end on.

Julian's fourth album (I've never heard Mr. Jordan) ranges from C+ to B+, averaging to a B-, like Valotte, so it's a bit of a comeback from The Secret Value of Daydreaming.  In some ways, he was still finding himself as an artist at 28, but when he had it, he really had it.
