I had a major crush on Sade Adu when I was sixteen, partly her looks but mostly that amazing voice. And this opening track on the debut album is indeed smooth, enough to get me past my dislike of modern (post-'50s) jazz.
*That's as close as I can come to the genre. It's not jazz rock (which tends to be whiter and maler), but it's too jazzy for regular soul.
