In my sophomore year of high school, I was more likely to buy cassettes than records (CDs were off in the hazy future) and I was a Culture Club fan by then. I may have at some point owned the debut album, Kissing to Be Clever, but I think I mostly just listened to its hits on the radio. There was a time when this opening track was my favorite song of all, and the video is still campy fun. This time, it's a solid song but I don't adore it.
