This is the first song on the collection to make me chair-dance, so maybe the late '30s swing is more my cup of tea. I must note though that the opening "hep heps" made me think of the "hip hips"in Weezer's "Island in the Sun" (which I don't own but really like). "Hep" sort of equals "hip" but not, in the sense that "hep cats" pre-date "hippies" and "hipsters." "Jive" would be a perfectly contemporary '70s slang term. This song even has "mellow" in it! So maybe it appeals to my Gen-X sensibilities. ("Ickeroo" sadly didn't catch on.)
"The jim, jam, jump, the solid jive/ Makes you nine foot tall when you're four foot five."
